Dr. Drèze urged the Tamil Nadu government to take swift action against the publishers of the book and other responsible parties. He expressed concern that the issue could spread, especially if the book was generated using artificial intelligence. He also questioned the procurement processes of public libraries, suggesting that verifying the authenticity of books should be a straightforward step.
The book in question was reportedly procured from Phoenix Publishers and possesses a valid ISBN. Media reports indicated that the address for Phoenix Publishers is the same as Akal Vilakku Publishers. The procurement date cited was June 25, 2023, prior to the inauguration of the Kalaignar Centenary Library in Madurai on July 15, 2023.
